Gondola Shelving Installation Guide
Gondola Shelving Installation Guide
Step-by-step instructions for assembling a standard Lozier island gondola section from scratch.
This guide covers standard 4-foot Lozier island sections. Always follow the manufacturer installation manual for your specific SKUs.
Tools Required
- Rubber mallet or dead-blow hammer
- Level (48 in. recommended)
- Tape measure
- Box wrench for leveling feet
- Chalk line for aligning runs
Step 1: Lay Out Your Run
Mark the center line of your aisle on the floor with a chalk line. Measure and mark each 4-foot section position. Allow at least 36 inches between runs for ADA-compliant aisle width (48 inches recommended).
Step 2: Assemble the Base
Each island section requires two base assemblies. Each base consists of two base brackets, one base deck, and leveling feet. Set level front-to-back and side-to-side before proceeding.
Step 3: Install the Uprights
Uprights slide down over the base bracket vertical post. Lower until fully seated. The upright should be plumb when the base is level.
Step 4: Install the Rails
Rails connect adjacent uprights. Hook rail clips over the upright slots at the appropriate height. Top rails at the top, bottom rails just above the base deck, center rail for sections 72 in. or taller.
Step 5: Install Back Panels (Wall Sections)
Insert back extension panels into upright slots, flush with the back. For sections over 72 in., a two-piece panel is required.
Step 6: Install Shelves
Clip shelf hooks into the upright slot at your desired height. Standard grocery shelf spacing is 8-10 inches. Shelves are adjustable in 1-inch increments.
Step 7: Final Check
- Verify all uprights are plumb in both directions
- Confirm all rails are fully seated
- Test shelf clips under moderate load
- Check all leveling feet contact the floor
- Install anti-tip straps per local code
